Speed Scrap, Sale and New Products

 

This weekend is the annual Speed Scrap Marathon over at MouseScrappers.  She has created things to go in the goodiebags (you'll get one after finishing 8 scraps (half marathon) or 16 scraps (full marathon)). These two products were released last Saturday.  Dream Portrait may look familiar as she has combined three of the freebies she as offered, and put them together in case you missed them.  she also released a pack of Dotted Papers, that coordinates with P12-2014

This week she has two more paper packs, one with Basic Chevrons, and another pack of Solids.  These solid papers have a more sudle texture to them than the last set.  You can find these two packs on sale for 50% off.

Frosty

 

Do you have snow outside?  After receiving another 20 cms yesterday, there is no doubt that we have snow.  In fact we have a nice hill in the front yard.  Too bad you would arrive face first into another snow bank if you tried to slide down it.  Mommy Me Time Scrapper and The Scrappy Kat are releasing Frosty today.  Filled with lots of different snowmen, frosty is a kit to use for all of those snow photos you have.  You can find Frosty on sale for 40% off.

Since I have been scrapping my snowmen this year, I have used Frosty with another snowman.  My other layout is of the snow we had back in March 2009.  (We have that much now in February 2014!)

Painted Love

 

This month Leaving a Legacy Designs participated in Scraps N Pieces, Bits N Pieces.  She has four different packs available on sale until February 7th.  Painted Love has a painted Alpha, put the Elements Pack also has painted flowers and leaves.  With Valentines Day being less than two weeks away, these packs are filled with goodies to scrap the loves of your life.

The first layout I did was using the template provided for the template challenge at SNP.  To check out the first template for this month click HERE, and then on the template challenge.  For the second I wanted to highlight a couple of photos of my nephews, who I will always love.

We had a nice sunny, warm (only –15C) day.  So what did I do?  Prepared for the snow that starts tomorrow night.  So shopping was a must, cleaned up the snow and tried to make room for the snow to come.  It was nice to see the sun and enjoy some time soaking it in.

Frostbitten

 

Before I show you Frostbitten, I want to let you know that her Just Chill Sale ends tomorrow (Jan. 31)  If you purchase the Just Chill Kit, you will get the Just Chill Word Art for free!

 

I worked with Frostbitten a few weeks ago, but I need to show you this.  The winter here in Ontario has been snowy, blowing, and bitterly cold.  So when I seen frostbitten it was ideal for my winter photos so far.  I love her snowmen, and also the touches of sparkle.  It made me think of the freshly falling glistening snow.  Aside from the kit itself, there are also coordinating packs of journal cards and word art.

Since we are headed for another weekend of freezing rain, I thought I would show you my double page spread of our last (major) ice storm.  I must say first that walking around trying to take these pictures was quite hazardous!  There was just nothing to hold onto.  I loved the colours of the kit (and the sparkle) and have also combine this kit with some of her Christmas kits! 

So while you are bundled up inside, think of working with Frostbitten.

It’s Winter Out

I have been busy scanning old photographs and I had happened to come across the following set of photos.  They are back when my father was a child.  They lived on a farm, on a road that rarely got ploughed. (think maybe three times the entire winter!)  The snow and snowdrifts were so high.  I am secretly, okay not so secretly hoping I do not see that much snow ever unless it is on a ski hill!

Bell Lets Talk Day

 

Today, January 28th is Bell Let’s Talk Day.  Bell Let’s Talk is a multi year charitable program dedicated to mental health.  Since 2010 Bell has committed over $62 million to support a wide range of health organizations, large and small, from coast to coast.  I personally know of 5 organizations in my community that have benefited from this program.  Mental health comprised of many different conditions including by not limited to:  Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Addictions, Tic Disorders, even forms of Dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease are classified as Mental Illnesses.  So many of these illnesses are suffered in silence and are suffered by everyone. 

Today, Bell will donate 5¢ more to mental health initiatives for every:

• Tweet using the hashtag #BellLetsTalk
• Facebook share of the Bell Let’s Talk image (This can be found on the Bell Canada facebook page HERE)

• Text message sent (by a Bell customer)
• Mobile and long distance call made (by a Bell customer)

You can do these as often as you would like, and each one will count.

This is a cause that is close to my heart.  I do not work for Bell, and truthfully I am not even a customer of theirs, but this isn’t about Bell as a company.   Today is about ending the stigma of Mental Health, and raising money to help research, educate and help those who need it.  If you are reading this, it means that you already have internet access, which means that helping does not have to cost you a cent.  All it takes is a couple of clicks of your mouse.
